MT5 (MetaTrader 5)

MT5 (MetaTrader 5) — The successor to MT4, supporting more asset classes (futures, stocks) and faster backtesting.

Full Definition

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) was released in 2010 and adds support for futures, stocks, and exchange-traded instruments alongside forex. Backtesting is multithreaded (faster than MT4). EAs are written in MQL5, which is incompatible with MT4. Most modern prop firms support both, but the trend is toward MT5-only.
